In the back of my paperback version of Star Wars: Dark Lord-The Rise Of Darth Vader
(2006), there is a preview of Star Wars: Darth Bane-Path Of Destruction
I was wondering if anyone had read the two other Sith novels: Star Wars: Darth Maul-Saboteur
and Star Wars: Darth Maul-Shadow Hunter
. What did you think of them? Current Mood: calm

A Must Read For Darth Vader Fans.
Star Wars: Dark Lord-The Rise of Darth Vader
(2006) explores the early days of Anakin Skywalker as he fully becomes Lord of the Sith Darth Vader. You also get an inside look into the Sith from the point of view of Lord Vader and Emperor Palpatine.
It answers a lot of questions about Vader's early development and adventures.
The book is worth the $8 cost, and I hope everyone has a chance to read it. Current Mood: calm

Star Wars Epics
Hi everyone! I ran into your community while scouring around other SW fansites here in the LJ site. I have always been interested in the SW universe and fan fiction and have collected the books, comics, and other tidbits associated with it. My favorite series out of the EU is probably the Thrawn trilogy, and unlike some who did enjoy it, I didn't care too much for the New Jedi Order series. That being the case, I wonder if the Dark Nest series would be any good. It won't stop me from buying the series, though.
I think the worst books from the EU are "Tatooine Ghost" and "Rogue Planet." Those were boring, long, and left me annoyed at the end for wasting my time reading them. As far as the Prequel books, "Darth Maul: Shadowhunter" and the "Medstar" duology were good and were fast reads. Michael Reeves is a very good author and he wrote Darth Maul most excellent.
Yes, I am a fan of Darth Maul.
As far as artwork, I have picked up "The Art of Episode III" and it is an awesome book. The artwork in there is amazing and I love the matte painting covered throughout its pages. The "Making of" book is also another good book to pick up as far as artwork. Unfortunate that I never got around to picking up the last two "Art of" books when they came out. I don't think they are sold anymore, although I hear there is a book set out there that contains all three books in a sleeve.
Anyway, with my love for anything SW, I couldn't help but to one day finally create my own site and dedicate discussions, fan fiction, and roleplay entirely in that universe. For that, I hope you don't mind me plugging my new website.Star Wars Epics
is a high quality roleplaying and discussion site centered around George Lucas' fantastic galaxy. Our roleplay board is set about 13 years after the Battle of Endor, so it lands us around the time of the Black Fleet Crisis. We're strictly involved in the EU so we base our timeline on it.
Aside from that, we also have discussion forums that cover everything from the books, movies, fan fiction, and art, to new projects like the upcoming TV series.
I hope you can join us and experience high-quality storywriting, fan-fiction, and mingle among other fellow Star Wars EU enthusiasts and fans.
See you there! Current Mood: jubilant

Jedi and Sith - different?
What, in your opinion, is the most important feature that differs a Jedi from a Sith?
We had a serious discussion with a close friend of mine, and he asked me this, so I told him the commonplace words - Jedi care about knowledge and protection of life whilst Sith mostly care about power and means of obtaining it. My friend objected saying, but Jedi do care about power and obtaining it, and Sith do care about knowledge. He also said, Sith care about love, and Jedi do not.
Your answers are very important for me as I feel the difference between Jedi and Sith but don't really know how to explain it.

Waking Up to the Dark Lord.
Yesterday when my wife and I were doing our grocery shopping at our local Wal-Mart, she pointed out a box of Kellogg's Corn Flakes with Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader on it.
It was really cool to find, but we couldn't afford it. Anyway on the side of the box, there was an offer for a "SW-E3:ROTS" poster. Kelloggs also has some other cool E3 things. Check it out at http://www.kelloggs.com/promotions/starwars/
. I want to get the posters myself. Current Mood: excited

"unexpected this is"
does anyone think that the red lightsaber is kinda overused. does anybody else thing there could be other colors to help represent their evil. i think maybe something like silver or some mix between red and purple. also another question... if you had a double bladed lightsaber would you have the same color for both ends or would you have two different ones to confuse your enemies? Hey there. I'm new to this group.
I have a question about the lightsabers. It is my understanding that the energy beam is created by a certain crystal within the saber. The crystal creates the beam of light in a random color (either blue or green). Mace Windu's lightsaber is purple but that's because it is an electron lightsaber rather than a crystal one. So what makes the Sith lightsabers red? I mean, if it was one of the random colors along with blue and green, then there should be red lightsabers among the Jedi as well as blue and green lightsabers among the Sith. So what's up with it?
I have a theory. Something about the dark side of the Force affects the crystals in such a way that the color of the light shaft becomes red. But that's just MY theory. And I don't even know if there is an official take on the topic. I'd love to know though cause it has always bothered me. Current Mood: contemplative
